The FC Edmonton Academy defeated Victoria 4-0 in the first leg of their AMSL challenge on Wednesday, September 12th.
The young Eddies took a 1-0 lead into the halftime break, courtesy a Ricky Yassin goal.
The turning point in the match was in the second half when a Victoria player was issued his second yellow card of the match, reducing his club to ten players. Chris Gakona stepped up and scored on the ensuing free kick to give the Academy a 2-0 lead.
Marcus Velado-Tsegaye and Abraham Dukuly added goals to make it a 4-0 final. Chris Ezoua earned the clean sheet in net for the Academy.
The second leg will be played at Victoria on Monday, September 17th at 6:00 pm.
