EDMONTON, A.B. — Winger Dustin Corea’s second goal of the season and defender/midfielder Adam Straith’s first goal as an Eddie helped propel FC Edmonton to a 2-1 win over the Indy Eleven and the pair to a North American Soccer League (NASL) Team of the Week nomination on Wednesday, May 31.
Corea drew and scored a penalty before turning provider deep into first-half stoppage time off a free-kick, curling his cross to the head of Straith who was left unmarked in the Indy 18-yard-box to put home his first in the blue and black of FC Edmonton.
Straith, a Canadian international, travels to Puerto Rico for the club’s June 3 match with Puerto Rico FC before joining up with the Canadian Men’s National Team in Montreal ahead of its June 13 friendly against Curaçao. The Eddies then travel to New York to face the Cosmos on Wednesday, June 7 in a make-up of the two clubs’ rescheduled match from May 21.
