FC Edmonton adds Keven Alemán for 2020 CPL season

FC Edmonton are delighted to announce the signing of Keven Alemán for the 2020 Canadian Premier League (CPL) season.

The Canadian international joins the Eddies in the prime of his career. Alemán is a 25-year-old attacking midfielder, who most recently played with Sacramento Republic FC in the USL Championship.

“This is a very exciting signing for our club and we are delighted to have won his signature,” FC Edmonton Head Coach and Interim General Manager Jeff Paulus said. “Keven brings us an undeniable attacking quality and is sure to excite our fans whenever the ball is at his feet.

We wanted to bring in an attacking midfielder, a creative 10, and Keven was number one on our recruitment list.”

The attacking midfielder started his youth professional career with Toronto FC before moving to Real Valladolid. He spent time with the Valladolid U-19 side before moving up to the Real Valladolid B.

He returned to his birth country of Costa Rica to play in the Primera division. He has featured with three Costa Rican teams since moving back in 2014. The most notable side he joined was Costa Rican powerhouse Deportivo Saprissa where he went on to make 18 appearances.

Alemán has featured for the Canadian national team from the U-17 ranks all the way to the senior side. He worked under FC Edmonton Assistant Coach Sean Fleming at the youth levels, featuring in the 2011 U-17 World Cup. He made his senior debut under former FC Edmonton Head  Coach Colin Miller at the 2013 CONCACAF Gold Cup against Mexico and has gone on to make a total of four appearances for Canada.
