FC Edmonton Announces Return of T-Boy Fayia & Darlington Murasiranwa

Edmonton, AB (February 9, 2022) – FC Edmonton announced the return of Eddies players defender T-Boy Fayia (fay-EYE-uh) and goalkeeper Darlington Murasiranwa (mur-uh-sir-ON-wah) today.

After easing into the squad this summer after an injury, T-Boy played six-straight league matches, providing Koch with a versatile option on either side of defence, swapping left back and right back duties and proved himself as a reliable defender.

The 21-year-old was born in Monrovia, Liberia but grew up in Edmonton and is passionate about playing in front of his hometown fans. Showcased as one of the CPL’s “The Next Gen” in 2021 has a bright future with the Eddies.

“T-Boy is a young local full-back with a high ceiling. He had some very impressive performances in his first professional season, and we look forward to seeing further growth in his career this season,” said Head Coach Alan Koch.

Murasiranwa is set for his second season with the Eddies after making five appearances for the club in the 2021 season. The former University of Guelph Gryphons netminder earned a clean sheet in FCE’s final match of the year – a 1-0 win over CPL Finals-bound Forge FC at Clarke Field.

The 21-year-old is a product of the FC Edmonton youth academy. Before joining FC Edmonton’s academy, in 2016 Murasiranwa joined Major League Soccer’s (MLS) Vancouver Whitecaps FC’s youth academy as a member of its U16 side. Born and raised in Cape Town, South Africa, Murasiranwa (6’0”, 170 pounds) moved to Edmonton with his family when he was 13 years old.

According to Koch, “Darlington came in to join us last season and played in his first professional games. He is a young local goalkeeper with massive potential, and we are excited to continue to work with him and push him to the highest levels possible.

“Both of these players embody who we are. They are both young charismatic players who bring an infectious attitude to the daily work environment and we look forward to welcoming them back to the team again in 2022.”

Fayia and Murasiranwa will be the only two returning FC Edmonton players from 2021. The club would like to thank all the 2021 players for their valuable contributions to the team both on and off the field.

FC Edmonton will kick the season off at home on Sunday April 10 against Valour FC at 2pm MT at Clarke Field.
