FC Edmonton exercises options for seven players for 2020 season

FC Edmonton is delighted to announce that the club has exercised their options for seven players from the 2019 Canadian Premier League (CPL) season.

The players returning for another season are: Tomi Ameobi, Ramon Soria, Youngchan Son, Kareem Moses, Marcus Velado-Tsegaye, David Doe, and Prince Amanda.

“While we have had to make a few very difficult decisions, I am delighted to have a large piece of the core of this team returning, with more announcements coming shortly,” FC Edmonton Head Coach Jeff Paulus said.

Captain Tomi Ameobi will be returning for his fifth season with the club. Currently, Ameobi holds the record for all-time appearances for the Eddies with 120. Ameobi made 25 appearances in all competitions during the 2019 CPL season.

Soria will be returning for his second year with the club after signing in early 2019. The clubs secondary Captain featured 25 times in his debut season for the Eddies.

Velado-Tsegaye, Doe, and Amanda are three players who have been with the club for a number of years. All three players graduated through the Academy program before signing their first professional contracts for their hometown club. Doe made his debut at the tail-end of the 2017 NASL season, while Velado-Tsegaye and Amanda made their professional debuts in 2019.

Moses joined the club originally in 2014 before leaving in 2016. He returned to the club in early 2019 and has gone on to make a total of 64 appearances for the Eddies. This year Moses made 17 appearances in all competitions

Son made his way to the CPL via the Open Trials. After impressing at the trials, Son penned a contract with FC Edmonton in early 2019. This season, Son went on to feature 16 times for the club.
