EDMONTON — As the 2017 North American Soccer League (NASL) season comes to a close, FC Edmonton is upping the excitement in October for its final three regular season matches of the year with Minor Soccer Month at Clarke Stadium!
Minor Soccer Month kicks off with Kit Night on Sunday, October 1 with any youth soccer player wearing a local club jersey to the match receiving 50% off their ticket to watch the Eddies take on the San Francisco Deltas at 2:00PM.
Less than a week later on Friday, October 6 at 7:00PM, FC Edmonton head coach Colin Miller and assistant coach & academy technical director Jeff Paulus will lead coaches through a Boot Room session and coaches’ clinic on Coaches Night at Clarke Stadium prior to kickoff between the Eddies and Jacksonville Armada FC. Both coaches are certified to the National ‘A’ level by Canada Soccer.
The Edmonton minor soccer community and teams from all over Alberta and Saskatchewan helped make ‘Girls in Soccer’ Night on Saturday, May 27 one of the most memorable Eddies matches in the club’s history by helping inspire girls playing the beautiful game in Canada.
After the hype built from its first rendition, FC Edmonton is happy to present ‘Girls in Soccer II’ for the club’s regular season home finale on Saturday, October 21 at 7:00PM against Miami FC, including a special guest appearance from Canadian Women’s National Team midfielder, two-time bronze medalist and Winnipeg, MB product Desiree Scott.
A staple in Canada’s national team side much like previous guest Diana Matheson, Scott has 126 caps for Canada on the international stage and currently plays her club soccer with FC Kansas City of the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL). The 30-year-old midfielder will make an appearance at the match in addition to taking part in a number of events in the city to inspire girls in soccer over the course of two days.
